Anglophilia
Don’t know when the recent American obsession with everything British came about, but it’s kind of creepy. The thought first struck me tonight as I first saw the promos for the UK show The Only Way is Essex (English Jersey Shore) to be syndicated in the States. While I was on the thought, it clicked that this Anglophilia had been creeping in slowly but surely via our film and tv for a...

great doc. does the democratization of the arts and technology hurt or help creation?
p.s. Seth Godin is like the all mighty master when it comes to social and business writing. Every word out of his mouth is gold. enjoy him and buy all of his books as soon as you can.

life update
I’ve finally graduated from college and have entered the great unknown. Hoping to hit the ground running in 2012 and continue making some proper use my five + years in l’music biz in L.A. and in Nashville with this music industry degree o’ mine. Luckily, I’ll be greeted by this stiff head wind known as the economy, but hey, such is life.

January Transfer Window
Arsenal…
I’ve pretty much resigned to the idea that no major signing will surface in this narrow window of opportunity. Yes yes, Thierry Henry just broke out of the Red Bulls for a short spell at the AFC and has hit the ground running in more ways than one. If he can deliver even 1/2, 1/3, or 1/10 of what he delivered in his time at Highbury and The Emirates, then it’ll be a...

New Orleans - October 2011
Here’s a bit of my New Orleans excursion a couple of weeks past. It was good to be back in the South again and the humidity was spot on. A lot of history and culture to take in and it permeated in just about every facet of the city. Definitely not the colonial south that I learned to love [and long for] but it was undoubtedly a bastion of the French and Spanish influence of the the...

Definitely gained a bit more respect for Roberto Mancini. He stuck to his guns and won’t take any of the crap his players are giving him. However, the fact still remains that he’s a characterless poacher of a manager. yes, an alarming amount of former Arsenal players are still in his books, but if you mess with snakes you’re going to get bit. Tevez was definitely one of the three...

Awkward
a bit of an awkward moment today when a deaf panhandler came up to me outside of the chick-fil-a by usc. I had never had to tell someone who is deaf that I don’t have any cash on me. In retrospect, I think I might’ve made an odd hand gesture similar to the ‘slicing neck with hand to say no’ motion. probably could’ve been a bit offensive. so to prevent any future...

I get it, Cesc.
Cesc clearly keeps posting his thoughts about AFC because he knows what he did in his heart was low down and dirty. He keeps seeking some sort of closure on the matter and after a handful of matches and two trophies with Barca, he still hasn’t found what he was looking for. AFC supporters place loyalty and respect on a very high pedestal, and for the captain to figuratively jump ship and...

< rant >
I think I need to join a language group or something that’ll promote some immersion in the languages I’ve been studying (super half-assed lately). I’m kind of in a language rut at the moment and have hit that all too famous wall. At one point, it was easy to create a little cultural bubble for myself. Having tried this approach, I quickly realized that I spent more time actually...

Memorial Day Post
Taken from Paste’s list of 10 Musicians Who Served In The Military:
“The sultan of country music enlisted in the Air Force during the Korean war, where he found his first guitar during his tour of duty in Germany. When his term was over he sold appliances door to door while he tried to make it big in the music biz”
I find this picture absolutely beautiful for some odd...
I’ve seen first hand how this totally dicks extremely talented musicians out of well deserved awards because categories are either sloppily merged together or taken out in its entirety. To take away so many ethnic varieties of music from being recognized will cheapen and completely discredit the work of musicians who think outside of the american lady gaga/ nicki minaj paradigm.
Steve Jobs on why the Amazon Kindle will fail
“It doesn’t matter how good or bad the product is, the
fact is that people don’t read anymore…Forty percent of the
people in the U.S. read one book or less last year. The whole conception
is flawed at the top because people don’t read anymore.”
I was a semi avid reader aiming at reading a book every month/ month and a half or so. Ever since the Kindle came into my life, I’ve...
