John Prine and Iris Dement - In Spite of Ourselves
Love me some Iris, well on her way to picking up where Emmylou Harris will soon get off.
Don’t know when the recent American obsession with everything British came about, but it’s kind of creepy. The thought first struck me tonight as I first saw the promos for the UK show The Only Way is Essex (English Jersey Shore) to be syndicated in the States. While I was on the thought, it clicked that this Anglophilia had been creeping in slowly but surely via our film and tv for a couple of years now. Chances are that one of your favorite American characters on one of your favorite American shows or movies is played by a Brit.

caught a good haul at amoeba. all day all I’ve wanted to listen to was some Merle Haggard and Tower of Power. caught about half of Haggards discography for about 10 bucks on vinyl. Been listening to this in the background as I catch up on my soccernomics book. what a legend.
great doc. does the democratization of the arts and technology hurt or help creation?
p.s. Seth Godin is like the all mighty master when it comes to social and business writing. Every word out of his mouth is gold. enjoy him and buy all of his books as soon as you can.
good to see the guys together again, but man Aston Villa and Everton are way too boring to watch.
love this site! let’s you stream artist videos in playlist succession without all the clutter usually associated with youtube.
I’ve finally graduated from college and have entered the great unknown. Hoping to hit ground running in 2012 and continue making some proper use my five + years in l’music biz in L.A. and in Nashville with this music industry degree o’ mine. Luckily, I’ll be greeted by this stiff head wind known as the economy, but hey, such is life. Here’s to hopefully busting my butt developing and releasing an artist and album you’ll no doubt download off of The Pirate Bay. :)
Arsenal…
Speaking of Loan Deals, two legends have come back into the fold over at the BPL in this transfer window. Two of which, are very near and dear.
Landon Donovan…
Some not so hot news…
Ultimately, it’s good to see our MLS players get a fair shake as the league continues to be on the up and up. Fortunately, with these new TV deals in place as well as the worldwide exposure brought on by the DB23 signing and winning of the 2011 cup, credit is being given where credit is due.
